Say goodbye to transportation worries and hello to a seamless buying and selling experience with Cobber.
We're here to help get your second-hand furniture to your doorstep. Unlike big moving companies that handle entire homes, we're all about making sure your specific items arrive safely and on time. To make things easy, just let us know the size of your furniture in the app – it's a quick form you can fill out on your phone.
For bigger or heavier pieces, there might be an extra cost if we need a second person to help lift. This helps us keep things smooth and efficient while making sure we handle your stuff with care. Your furniture delivery experience matters to us, and we're committed to making it as simple and stress-free as possible.
We have recently initiated the soft launch of our services in Adelaide, having successfully onboarded drivers in the northern, southern and southwestern suburbs. Our future plans include extending our coverage to cater to customers across Australia.
Your price is determined based on a single item with a base price of $30 for up to 10km and a per km amount after that depending on the size of the vehicle. If you have multiple items or require more than 1 person to help move the item, the price may be altered
Our delivery partners place a strong emphasis on the safety and security of goods during transit, as well as at pick-up and drop-off locations. They take necessary precautions to minimize the risk of damage, loss, or theft. While our priority is to work with reliable drivers and maintain a high level of service quality, we also encourage customers to provide feedback through our driver star rating system to ensure ongoing improvement and accountability.
Our app currently requests a 5-hour window for pickups and deliveries. For example, if you choose a time slot starting at 9 am, your delivery window will be from 9 am to 2 pm. This window allows our drivers to efficiently manage routes and combine multiple pickups and drop-offs along the way. By grouping deliveries, we can reduce fuel consumption and emissions, supporting our commitment to sustainability.
If the driver doesn’t have other pickups en route, your delivery will happen as quickly as possible—often directly from the pickup address to the drop-off. In cases like these, delivery could be as fast as a 10-minute drive time.
We’re continuously working to improve our service, and more specific time slots may be introduced in the future. Thank you for helping us build a more sustainable delivery model!

No, homeowners or residents are not required to assist with lifting or moving heavy items. Our independent contractors are responsible for handling these tasks.
While you can choose to assist, it is important to understand that you do so at your own risk. We strongly recommend letting our trained contractors handle the lifting and moving.
If you choose to assist in lifting or moving an item and sustain an injury, Cobber and its independent contractors are not liable for any injuries, losses, or damages. By assisting, you acknowledge and accept the risks involved.

If your item is damaged during delivery, please contact the contractor (e.g., your delivery provider) directly to initiate a claim. They manage claims through their transit insurance provider and will guide you on submitting necessary details and documentation.
While Cobber does not directly handle claims, we can help you with information on how to file a claim with the contractor. However, the contractor is fully responsible for claims processing, and Cobber’s role is to provide the platform to connect you with delivery providers.
Cobber serves as an intermediary platform connecting you to delivery providers. Since these contractors are responsible for the transport service, they hold full responsibility for the items in transit. This arrangement ensures that claims related to damage, loss, or theft are managed directly by the party involved in the delivery.
You can reach your delivery provider using the contact information shared in your booking confirmation or on their profile within the Cobber app. They will assist you with the claims process directly.
No, Cobber does not hold liability for items in transit. Each delivery provider manages all transport-related responsibilities, including handling any damage or loss claims. Cobber facilitates the booking process but is not involved in or liable for transportation activities.
Yes, each contractor has transit insurance that covers goods while in transit. This insurance is intended to protect your items against damage, loss, or theft during the delivery process.

As a driver with Cobber, you have the flexibility to choose which tasks you accept. We offer an average minimum payment of $40 per task. The final amount you earn will depend on factors such as the volume and distance of the delivery. This payment structure allows you to maximize your earnings based on your preferences and availability. There is no guarantee of work or income, and you are free to select tasks that best fit your schedule.
Due to the processing times between Stripe and your bank, it typically takes 3-5 business days for the payment to arrive in your designated account after it has been released. If you encounter any issues with getting the payment released from a Customer, please email [email protected]
No, registering to drive with Cobber doesn't make you an employee. Cobber is designed as a gig economy platform, where drivers operate as independent contractors or operate as sole traders with ABN, enjoying all the benefits and flexibility that come with this arrangement. For a more detailed understanding, Fair Work Australia provides insights that might clarify this further.: https://www.fairwork.gov.au/find-help-for/independent-contractors/gig-economy

An Australian Business Number (ABN) is a unique 11-digit identifier issued by the Australian Business Register (ABR) that helps businesses and individuals interact with government agencies and other businesses. As an independent contractor on Cobber, providing an ABN is essential for tax purposes and to avoid having tax withheld from your payments at the top marginal rate (currently 47%).
You can apply for an ABN online through the Australian Business Register website. The process is straightforward and usually takes only a few minutes. Visit the ABR website at www.abr.gov.au for more information and to apply.
If your annual turnover is $75,000 or more, you must register for Goods and Services Tax (GST). If your turnover is below this threshold, registration is optional. Registering for GST means you need to charge GST on your services and remit it to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). You can register for GST through the ABR website.
If you do not provide an ABN and you receive payments of $75 or more (excluding GST) for your services, Cobber is required to withhold tax at the top marginal rate of 47% from your payments and remit it to the ATO.
The Taxable Payments Annual Report (TPAR) is a report that Cobber submits to the ATO each year, detailing payments made to contractors for their services. This report includes your ABN, the total amount paid to you, and the nature of the services provided. The TPAR helps the ATO ensure that contractors report their income correctly.
As an independent contractor, you are responsible for:
- Reporting all income earned through Cobber on your annual tax return.
- Paying income tax on your earnings.
- Registering for and paying GST if applicable.
- Keeping accurate records of your income and expenses.
If you are registered for GST, you need to lodge a Business Activity Statement (BAS) either quarterly or annually, depending on your turnover and the election you made when you registered for GST. The BAS is used to report and pay your GST, PAYG instalments, and other tax obligations.
In most cases, independent contractors are responsible for their own superannuation contributions. Check the ATO guidelines to determine any requirements.
You should keep detailed records of all income received from Cobber, including invoices, receipts, and any other relevant documents. These records should be kept for at least five years as they may be needed for tax purposes or in case of an audit.
Cobber provides resources and guidance to help you understand your tax obligations, including information on obtaining an ABN, registering for GST, and reporting your income. We also submit the TPAR to the ATO to ensure transparency and compliance with tax laws.
For detailed information about your tax obligations as an independent contractor, visit the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) website at www.ato.gov.au. The ATO provides comprehensive resources and guidance on income tax, GST, superannuation, and other relevant topics.
